Together with Solidaridad, we work on local projects that help fruit growers to cultivate oranges and mangoes as responsibly as possible. Because only with a healthy business can they continue to provide us with delicious fruit from nature in the future. That is why we help farmers by working hard every day to meet our high standards for our fruit.

For example, they have developed the Rural Horizons program: a platform with thousands of farmers to improve their production.
Within the Rural Horizons program, we help orange juice farmers improve their business operations. We ensure that the natural environment and the social and economic conditions of the farmers, their employees, and local communities are protected and even improved.

Biodiversity
The term biodiversity refers to the richness of different plants and animals. At CoolBest, we believe it is very important to maintain the balance of nature. An area with only orange trees is not good for nature.
That is why farmers often grow other crops as well, such as coffee. In addition to growing plants, many of our farmers also keep bees. Bees are essential for the fruit on orange trees and very important for maintaining biodiversity. The pollen on their legs ensures that all kinds of plants can grow elsewhere.
Good for people
Orange cultivation in Brazil provides more than 250,000 jobs. Approximately 80% of the orchards are owned by family businesses that usually employ temporary workers to pick the oranges. It is our ambition to ensure that fruit farmers and their pickers, all over the world, have a good life.
We pay a lot of attention to the farmers’ employees. After all, oranges are picked by hand. Fruit farmers often use temporary workers. The Rural Horizons program teaches farmers how to improve working conditions during the harvest.
These working conditions are improved, for example, by wearing protective clothing during picking. There are toilet facilities with water and shaded areas to take a break. Good for the people.
